Kinseikyu Structural/Postural Body Balancing with Moxibustion

What Is Body Posture?

Posture refers to how various body structures (e.g., muscle chains, Fascia, bones, organs) are arranged and interplay with each other, which determines our position in space. So, here, we are not referring to our habitual positions (e.g., our way of sitting) but rather the global alignment of our bodies as a unified system.

Is Body Posture Classified as ‘Good’ Or ‘Bad’?

Each person’s posture is unique. Rather than labelling it as ‘good’ or ‘bad’, with all the social and emotional weight those terms carry, it’s more useful to consider whether and how posture may be contributing to pain, discomfort, or body’s dysfunction. When posture is part of the underlying issue, addressing alignment can play a key role in resolving symptoms. While broad generalisations is not preferable, it’s not uncommon for persistent or recurring conditions to be linked to postural imbalances. These imbalances can place added strain on muscles and restrict circulation, often leading to fatigue over time.

Can Moxibustion Be Used to Address Body Postural Imbalance?

In short, the answer is YES. Before diving into the specifics of HOW, let us first discuss the ‘Fascia’, the largest organ used to work with the body posture.
What Is Fascia?
The body’s structural integrity and connectivity are maintained by Fascia, a continuous network with vital biomechanical and architectural functions for the body’s overall physiology, both in health and disease. This web-like structure exists in various layers of skin and envelops different organs and organ systems, forming Fascia lines (Image: Example of Fascia. Functional Atlas of the Human Fascial System).

Kinseikyu is a gentle hands-on therapy that blends light fascia release with moxibustion to help the body realign and find postural balance (‘Kin’ means balance, ‘sei’ means posture, and ‘kyu’ means moxibustion). The body’s connective tissue (our myofascial network) acts like an adaptable web, holding everything in place while allowing movement. When tension or tightness builds in one area, it can ripple through this web, affecting other parts of the body, including organs. It’s a two-way relationship. Take, for example, knee pain that actually stems from a misaligned pelvis. If we only treat the knee, relief might be short-lived because the root of the problem hasn’t been addressed. Kinseikyu looks at the whole picture, gently working at the source of imbalance to support lasting change and deeper healing.

How Long is the Kinseikyu Treatment Session?

The typical duration of a Kinseikyu treatment can vary between 60 to 75 minutes, depending on the type and extend of the treatment needed.

How Many Sessions is Required to Balance the Body Posture?

A one-size-fits-all plan is not applicable, as everybody has unique requirements and varying degrees of severity of conditions.
